A good friend of mine recently approached me about creating an online resume for him. He wanted it to be incredibly simple and to focus on the content.
So that's what I did.
This design is quite a departure from what I usually do. Normally, the designs I create include standard content sections like a header, navigation, content body, and footer. Since this site had so little content, I decided to jettison those concepts altogether.
So because these content divisions were non-existent, and because there was so little content, I decided to keep all of the content on one "page", and to create divisions through a javascript slider (I used Adobe's Spry framework , if anyone is interested).
Although I was hesitant, I submitted this design to several design galleries. To my pleasant surprise, it was featured by a few of which I've been trying to make for a while with my designs.

To be perfectly honest, I was not expecting a lot of response on this. However, I think the focus on content and design simplicity attracted some attention, for which I am grateful.

I can’t tell you how long I’ve been waiting for Philipnewton.com. Unfortunately the website was not quite what I was hoping for. I’m not faulting the design. I was just hoping for more pictures and possibly a "members only" section.
The javascript slider is pretty slick. It could have done wonders with photos.

I think the animation for going to page 2 of 2 of "Experience" is misleading- the arrow points to the right, but the animation pulls it from the bottom. When I first saw it happen, I thought it just reloaded the page.
Also, even though I know they don’t do anything, the little arrows next to the content headers makes me think they should bring up a drop-down menu.
And put up some freaking pictures. I need eye-candy. At least the male model from the design you showed me last night.
Other than that, I like it, and the shout-outs from the other two places are surely more meaningful than my ignorantly offered opinion. Ok, let’s be honest- they’re not, but I thought I would at least feign humility.

btw- you should never hesitate to submit stuff to place where people can see it. Views are the only way to get people to give you money to make them something.
