July 09, 2007 - A Revelation of Online Proportions

Those not involved in website design and development may not know where I am coming from (and therefore not care), but I found something incredibly interesting today.  During my lunch break, I was making some updates to my blog, specifically adding links and images of the various browsers that... July 26, 2007 - existdissolve.com Receives Design Recognition

As if having a blog devoted to nothing more than my own personal aggrandizement isn't enough, please allow for but a bit more gratuitous self-promotion. As many of my readers know, my "day job" is web-design.  From initial concept creation, to html programming, to database archit... [more]

August 16, 2007 - A Brand-Spanking-New Website

Yeah, so I've been out of the loop quite a bit lately.  The primary reason is that I have been working a ton!  Beyond my normal web design and development duties at my regular job, I have also been working on some freelance projects which have occupied most of my ridiculously sparse f... [more]

August 22, 2007 - landscape-expressions.com Receives Design Kudos

Okay, more gratuitous self-aggrandizement.

The site which I recently finished, landscape-expressions.com , has been featured on the following design sites:

September 12, 2007 - Web 2.0 Goodness - Adobe's Spry Framework

Ok, so as everyone who reads this blog knows (or should know...), I am a web designer/web developer. On the development side, I am best at ColdFusion , one of the under-appreciated programming langugages out there. While ColdFusion is awesom... [more]

September 17, 2007 - Adobe's Spry Framework, Part Second

A couple days ago, I posted an example of how Adobe's Spry Framework allows one to easily and quickly incorporate XML datasets into an application, allowing for a great alternative to page-to-page navigation and data mining.

September 18, 2007 - Webservices in ColdFusion

Today, for work, my boss asked for me to create a bit of functionality that would allow users to return lists of people from a database who live within [x] miles of an entered zip code.  I've never created something like this before, but I've been around long enough to know that this k... [more]

October 01, 2007 - A New Day, A New Spry

Recently, I have blogged about how incredibly cool Adobe's javascript framework---Spry---is and what potential it has for making great dynamic web content.  In those posts, I was talking about Spry pre-release version 1.5.  Up until 1.4, it would not seem that Adobe was too terribly i... [more]

October 03, 2007 - A Little Taste of Spry 1.6 Goodness

A few days I blogged about Adobe's release (and sexy-fication) of the javascript framework Spry 1.6.  While I have not had a lot of time to play around with the absolutely unique elements, some cool additions are the improvements they made to the password verification and confirmation widg... October 30, 2007 - Slowly Getting Handier with Javascript

Okay, so for people who are javascript heroes, what I'm going to write about is ridiculously lame.  But I think it's cool.

Yesterday, I was working on an application for a client.  Part of it needed to use the fancy lightbox feature for images.  But on top of this,... [more]

December 10, 2007 - Long Time No Post--And a New Design!

Wow--it's been almost a month since my last post...not good.  Anyway, I've been terribly busy with my new job.

The new job has been somewhat of an adjustment because my job responsibilities have moved beyond simple design and coding: now, I am intimately involved in p... [more]

January 30, 2008 - stonewallwesleyan.com Launches

I've been away for a while...that's because I've been consumed with work and LAUNCHING A NEW WEBSITE!!!

Okay, that was a bit dramatic.  But I am terribly excited about this one.  For one, I worked incredibly hard on this. I built every bit of it from scratch, and in... [more]

February 08, 2008 - On Becoming a Better Web Designer

Anytime one approaches a new design project, it is easy to get distracted by trying to have the project finished NOW, instead of doing necessary preparation work to ensure maximum work efficiency.  I am as guilty of this as anyone.  In the past, designing a website and bringing it through... February 18, 2008 - phillipnewton.com

A good friend of mine recently approached me about creating an online resume for him.  He wanted it to be incredibly simple and to focus on the content.

So that's what I did.

This design is quite a departure from what I usually do.  Normally, the designs I cre... [more]

March 19, 2008 - IE8 Beta and Kicking Microsoft to the Curb

Ok, so for those who know me, I've never exactly been the biggest fan of ANYTHING that Microsoft has forced upon the genearl computing public.  IMO, Word is about the best thing that they've done, and even that is pretty lame.

Obviously, I have complained more than once abou... [more]

Extra Stuff
/*/ About Me

Welcome to my blog. I am often asked what "Exist/Dissolve" means. Well, that is certainly a good question, and I am currently in the process of discovering the answer myself. Prima facie, it strikes me as encapsulating the existensial crisis that is our lives as finite, contingent beings. For a brief moment, we exist, and the next we dissolve into the nothingness of non-existence. From a theological perspective, it is, for me, a sort of ad hoc apologetic for resurrection - i.e., if to exist/dissolve is the human dilemma, there is nothing inherent to the person that guarantees existence, either now or "after" death. Therefore, resurrection is at the same time both the height of absurdity (for it is a notion entirely alien to the paradigm of existence to which we are naturally enculturated) and the only hope for the human to persevere beyond the pale of death.
