Good feedback. I can see where trying to build an app in Architect 2 from scratch with no experience with the framework would probably be frustrating. For me, this tool has been particularly helpful in refining my understanding of aspects of the new MVC approach that I didn't implement necessarily ideally when hand-coding. However, I'm not sure that the value of that would be as meaningful to me without the prior experiences.

Hope you give Touch another go, perhaps sans Architect 2 :)

Valid points, for sure. I never ran into an issue with the column orders changing, but I also rarely use this method...I typically convert the query into a less-horrible json format (key/value pairs) before returning it to ExtJS/Touch.

I looked at your custom reader--very nice! Definitely a good alternative to what is admittedly a kludge with mapping columns positionally.

While technically correct, you are assuming that ColdFusion will always put the columns in the order you are defining. Not all versions (or even dot releases) do that, and you also must consider changing server-side models (column additions). That's why I wrote CFQueryReader for ExtJS. You can find it on RIAForge (http://cfqueryreader.riaforge.org)
